Schaeffer Mfg Company introduces new hydraulic fluid technology for their HTC™ and Di-LEX™ line of superior quality hydraulic fluids. The new technology additive, called VarniShield™, is designed to eliminate the formation of varnish and sludge in all types of high pressure hydraulic systems. The new generation additive is part of the hydraulic fluid’s additive package and not a stand alone additive. The product is designed to stop formation of varnish and sludge rather than clean up an already dirty system.

Varnish is a natural bi-product of oil oxidation.  It is especially troublesome for servo valves, pilot control valves and other tight tolerance system components.  Varnish causes sluggish operation and increases system temperatures which, unfortunately, leads to more oxidation and varnish.  Energy costs go up in systems where varnish is present and filtration can be a problem as well.  Sludge and varnish tend to attract contaminants and wear debris and keep them from being filtered effectively.  Filters also suffer when varnish and sludge build up in the filter media reducing efficiency and allowing contaminants to remain in circulation.

Other benefits of the new technology include: 1) Better oxidation stability; 2) Longer oil life; 3) Reduced equipment and maintenance costs; 4) Reduced foaming and; 5) Dramatically less leakage.
