ST. LOUIS, MO. (Nov. 30, 2016) – Schaeffer’s Specialized Lubricants, the country’s oldest lubricant manufacturer, is proud to introduce SynShield™ Oils, its new line of performance-based, heavy-duty diesel engine oils.
Available in December 2016, the new oils meet and exceed API CK-4 or FA-4 specifications. SynShield™ Oils are formulated to support different equipment needs customers experience based on work they do on job sites or over the road.
“We listened closely to what our customers had to say about their equipment, and we thoroughly analyzed the operational conditions their equipment faced,” said Jim Carroll, vice president of technical services for Schaeffer. “The results of our study confirmed what we have been saying: different applications require different oils to achieve better engine performance and protection.”
SynShield™ CK-4 Oils will replace Schaeffer’s Supreme 7000/9000 CJ-4 Oils and will be backward compatible for new and older engines using higher viscosity high-temperature high-shear oils (HT/HS). Schaeffer’s SynShield™ FA-4 Oil will offer increased fuel economy benefits for 2017 and newer engines requiring lower viscosity HT/HS oil. Schaeffer’s FA-4 oil will not be backward compatible.
For customers needing enhanced engine protection in severe operating conditions, Schaeffer offers:
For customers needing advanced fuel economy benefits, Schaeffer offers:
With API launching two new diesel oil categories, customers will have more viscosities and oil types to choose from. Today’s engines are running hotter and working harder to increase efficiency and lower emissions. Engine oil will play a vital role in improving durability through the use of advanced additive systems, polymeric viscosity modifier technology and better base oils.
“Unless the oil you’re using is built for higher temperatures and durability, normal use of the engine will lead to complications, shorter engine life and added expenses,” said Carroll. “Using the right oil based on the work the equipment performs will result in better protection in the long run.”
Over its 177 years, Schaeffer has been committed to providing superior lubricants that extend equipment life and help customers operate more efficiently. With SynShield™ Oils, customers can expect performance-driven benefits targeted to how they manage their equipment and lubricants. Results from extensive testing show Schaeffer’s SynShield™ Oils offer significant improvements over CJ-4 and other conventional oils:
Superior wear protection:
Better contamination control:
Additionally, SynShield™ Oils provide excellent stay-in-grade viscosity performance with significantly less oil consumption than allowed by API specifications.
“Schaeffer has always stood for products that deliver results beyond expectation,” said Carroll. “Our new oils were rigorously tested and carefully refined to not only surpass API specifications, but to deliver the performance and quality customers have come to expect from Schaeffer.”
To help customers select the right oil for their needs, Schaeffer created easy to understand names that are more descriptive of the oils’ performance. Additionally, the products will feature new labels that communicate the differences in the SynShield™ Oils.
“Our diesel oils will still be available in their distinctive red bottles, and the new style labels will clearly call out key information such as API specification, product name and viscosity grade,” said Carroll.
