Marine Ecoshield™ Biodegradable Grease NLGI #2 is a multi-purpose, extreme pressure, environmentally friendly, non-toxic, water resistant, readily biodegradable, bentone base grease. It’s designed for use on components such as ball, roller, sliding and journal bearings operating in environmentally sensitive areas.
Schaeffer’s biodegradable grease meets the U.S. EPA’s 2013 Vessel General Permit (VGP) specifications and requirements for Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants (EAL) for marine applications where the lubricant may come into contact or interface with fresh or seawater.
Marine Ecoshield™ Biodegradable Grease is recommended for use in vessels where the rudder assemblies are below the water line; any thrusters below the water line that are subject to the VGP; and any other apparatus subject to the current VGP. Schaeffer’s EAL grease may be used for any vessel deck or other grease applications, although the VGP does not require that implementation.
