Schaeffer teamed up with Ranken Technical College to find out how a customer's million miles Ford 5.4L gasoline engine looks after running exclusively on Schaeffer Oil.
The experts were shocked to see the condition of this workhorse. Even the engine's main bearings still had the manufacturer's original numbers inked on them.

Holston Electric Cooperative has had three engines fail within six months. This was due to O-ring failures around the cylinder sleeves in the International DT 466 engines in their Ford boom trucks. To help the situation, Holston Electric Cooperative decided to use Schaeffer's #700 Supreme 7000® 15W-40. While changing over from Rotella-T, they discovered water and antifreeze in the oil from the failing O-rings. Because they could not have the truck down for repairs, they decided to go with the Supreme 7000® and operate the truck. They had to continually add water to keep the truck from overheating.
The truck operated for three weeks with no failures. Once they could pull the truck in for maintenance, they pulled the drain plug. Joe Trent, of Holston Electric Coop, estimated over a gallon of water was in the oil pan. The cam bearings and main bearings showed no wear due to the water and antifreeze. The Schaeffer's #700 Supreme 7000® 15W-40 allowed the customer to repair the engine when production wouldn't be impacted, preventing downtime and loss of money.
